Summer Program

Our Summer Program is a fantastic way to find out what a career in law looks like. You’ll be involved with actual client matters, providing you with invaluable real-world experience in legal work. And you’ll have plenty of opportunities to observe or participate in closings, document drafting, client conferences and negotiation sessions. Working alongside our talented teams allows summer associates to experience our “one-firm” global culture, explore different practice areas and work with a variety of lawyers.

What We Offer

Mentoring

We provide multiple avenues for lawyers seeking opportunities to discuss their career development plan such as with practice leaders, supervising lawyers and mentors and through coaching programs. One useful tool is the Career Development Plan. This plan is intended to help associates focus on where they are now and where they want to be in the future. 

Being mentored is an important part of a lawyer’s career development. First year associates and laterals are assigned to a mentor whey they start at the firm, and all lawyers have the opportunity to participate in our mentoring platform, CONNECTIVITY.

What We Offer

Mayer Brown Diversity Scholars Program

Mayer Brown is committed to improving diversity at the firm and in the community at large. Our Diversity Scholars Program is just one example of the many initiatives the firm has implemented to promote diversity and inclusion. The program provides a number of individual scholarships that total $25,000 (less applicable withholding taxes) to qualified law students who join our 2024 Summer Program after completing their second year of law school. For scholarship recipients, the first $15,000 will be paid upon joining our 2024 Summer Program. An additional $10,000 will be paid after graduation (or any clerkship) upon joining the firm as a full-time associate. This scholarship program was created to acknowledge and reward law students with strong academic records who share our commitment to diversity in the legal profession. We are proud to provide this financial support for tuition expenses for such high-achieving students.
